Love Your Knees Like You Love the Olympics!


Like many of you, I’ve been watching the feats of athleticism being done in Pyeongchang, South Korea. However, there is one sport that makes the Winter Olympics difficult for me to watch—freestyle skiing on moguls. Moguls are bumps created on a ski slope by repeated turns of skiers over the same path. 


When I watch mogul skiing, all I can think about is the damage the athletes are creating in their knees. Icing between ski sessions is a very popular way for them to recover. I recommend doing the reverse for regular life, heating your knees. Heat, like massage, increases blood circulation in the complex joint leading to a higher range of motion and quicker recovery from daily wear and tear.
